Kristopher Sean Matthews (aka Ali Jibreel) admitted to conspiring to provide material support to the designated foreign terrorist organization Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (aka ISIS). Matthews pleaded guilty to a conspiracy charge to provide material support to ISIS. Matthews admitted that since May 2019, he conspired with Jaylyn Christopher Molina (aka Abdur Rahim) of Cost, TX, to provide services to ISIS by administering an encrypted, members-only chat group for persons who supported ISIS ideology; by collecting, generating, and disseminating pro-ISIS propaganda; and by disseminating firearms training materials and bomb-making instructions to each other and to other members of the chat group and others. Jaylyn Christopher Molina pleaded guilty in January 2021 to one count of conspiracy to provide material support to ISIS and one count of receiving child pornography. Matthews was sentenced to 20 years in prison and Molina was sentenced to 18 years in prison in July 2022 for conspiring to provide material support to ISIS.

2022-07-01 | Men Sentenced to Federal Prison for Conspiring to Provide Material Support to Terrorists

Kristopher Sean Matthews, aka Ali Jabreel, and Jaylyn Christopher Molina, aka Abdur Rahim, were sentenced today for conspiring to provide material support to ISIS. Matthews was sentenced to 20 years in prison and Jaylyn Christopher Molina was sentenced to 18 years in prison. Since May 2019, Matthews conspired with Molina to provide services to ISIS by administering an encrypted, members-only chat group for persons who supported ISIS ideology; by collecting, generating, and disseminating pro-ISIS propaganda; and by disseminating firearms training materials and bomb-making instructions to each other and to other members of the chat group and others. In Nov. 2020 and Jan. 2021, Matthews and Molina, respectively, pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to provide material support to ISIS. In addition, Molina pleaded guilty to one count of receiving child pornography. At today's sentencing, Molina received another 216 months, to run concurrently, for the child pornography charge. Both men have remained in federal custody since their arrests on Sept. 21, 2020.

Jaylyn Christopher Molina, aka Abdur Rahim, admitted to conspiring to provide material support to the designated foreign terrorist organization Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham/Syria (ISIS). Molina pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to provide material support to ISIS and one count of receiving child pornography. By pleading guilty, Molina admitted that since May 2019, he conspired with 34-year-old South Carolina resident Kristopher Sean Matthews, aka Ali Jibreel, and others to provide services to ISIS by administering an encrypted, members-only chat group for persons who supported ISIS ideology; by collecting, generating and disseminating pro-ISIS propaganda; by attempting to recruit individuals to join ISIS; and by disseminating bomb-making instructions.
