[SDNY] The Justice Department charged six senior Hamas leaders—a designated foreign terrorist organization—for their alleged key roles in planning, supporting, and carrying out the Oct. 7, 2023 attacks in Israel. These attacks involved the killings and kidnappings of numerous civilians, including American citizens, and marked the peak of Hamas's long-running campaign of violence and terrorism against Israel and its allies. The defendants are either dead or still at large.
