USA v. Akbari, Hossein

March 2025
Iran

[EDNY] A criminal complaint unsealed today charges two Iranian nationals — 63-year-old Hossein Akbari and 62-year-old Reza Amidi — along with the Iranian firm Rah Roshd Company (Rah Roshd), with conspiring to illegally obtain U.S.-made components for Iranian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), commonly known as drones. The defendants are also accused of conspiring to provide material support to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), a designated foreign terrorist organization, and of engaging in a money laundering conspiracy.

Akbari serves as Rah Roshd's chief executive officer, while Amidi is the company's commercial manager and previously held the same role at Qods Aviation Industries (QAI), an Iranian state-owned aerospace company. Both men are Iranian citizens and remain fugitives.
