[DMA] Saajid Mohammad Badat, a British national, was charged with conspiring with and aiding and abetting convicted "shoe bomber" Richard Reid to detonate homemade bombs hidden in shoes on American aircraft in 2001. In 2005, Badat was convicted and sentenced in the United Kingdom for a terror plot where he is now serving 13 years in prison.
