[SDNY] Mohamed Ibrahim Ahmed, a citizen of Eritrea, is accused of conspiring to provide material support to Al Shabab, an al-Qaeda-affiliated violent extremist group in Somalia. Ahmed allegedly traveled to Somalia for the purpose of receiving jihad training at an Al Shabab paramilitary camp. Ahmed was extradited to the United States from Nigeria. Ahmed was sentenced to 111 months in prison for conspiring to support and receive military-type training from a foreign terrorist organization.
