US v. Osmakac

January 2012
Tampa, FL
Homegrown

[MDFL] Sami Osmakac, a naturalized U.S. citizen who was born in the former Yugoslavia (Kosovo), was charged on two counts of attempting to use a weapon of mass destruction and possession of an unregistered machine gun. His targets included the Macdinton's Irish Pub in South Howard and the Hard Rock Casino in Tampa. A federal jury found Osmakac guilty on both counts. He was sentenced to 40 years in prison. Osmakac appealed arguing his surveillance under the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) had violated the law but the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit affirmed his sentence and conviction.
