[EDCA] Nicholas Teausant of Acampo, Calif., was charged with attempting to provide material support to a foreign terrorist organization. Teausant was arrested at the Canadian border while on his way to Syria to join the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, also known as the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, one of the several groups aligned with the rebels fighting the Syrian regime. In December 2015, Teausant pleaded guilty to providing material support to ISIL. In June 2016, Teausant was sentenced to 12 years in prison for attempting to join ISIL.
