[NDOH] Four Ohio men, Yahya Farooq Mohammad, Ibrahim Zubair Mohammad, Asif Ahmed Salim and Sultane Room Salim, were charged with conspiring to travel to Yemen to provide thousands of dollars to Anwar Al-Awlaki in an effort to support violent jihad against U.S. military personnel in Iraq, Afghanistan and throughout the world. Al-Awlaki, a key leader of Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, was designated a global terrorist in 2010. In July 2016, Yahya Mohammad was charged in an indictment for soliciting the murder of a federal judge presiding over his case. In July 2017, Mohammad pleaded guilty to conspiring to provide material support to terrorists and soliciting the murder of a federal judge. Yahya Mohammad was sentenced to 27 years in prison for conspiring to provide support to terrorists and soliciting the murder of a federal judge. Ibrahim Mohammad pleaded guilty to concealment of financing of terrorism. He will be deported to India, where he has citizenship. Asif Ahmed Salim and Sultane Room Salim also pleaded guilty to one count of concealment of financing terrorism, for their roles in concealing the provision of thousands of dollars to Anwar Al-Awlaki in an effort to support violent jihad against U.S. military personnel in Iraq, Afghanistan and throughout the world. Ibrahim Mohammad and Sulatane Salim were each sentenced to five years in prison.
