An 18-year-old Islamic State follower was shot after throwing rocks at and wielding a knife toward a sheriff's sergeant in Phoenix, AZ. Ismail Hamed used text messages to spread terror propaganda. He sent a high-school friend links to al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden's declaration of jihad and a video of U.S.-born militant cleric Anwar Al-Awlaki. In other texts, he alluded to the 1999 Columbine High School massacre and bemoaned the effect of western secularism on Islam. Hamed has pleaded not guilty to aggravated assault and terrorism charges.
